My last thought about CL

I almost completed this semester. My view on Critical Literacy subject is beyond my expectation. I have to do many research on one article to support my thought and idea about a topic. I have to prepare some premises to support my idea or counter argument to disagree on some topics. We also have to do some research on the writer’s background to check whether he/she is credible enough to write about the topic. Another thing that is interesting about Critical Literacy’s subject is when we have some opportunity to argue if we do not agree with some topics. But overall, I am hoping the best result for this subject and I hope to not seeing any of this subject anymore. Critical literacy is good but please choose the interesting topic to be argued about for the next generation that will learn this subject.

body, mind and spirit!

"Body is the greatest possession " because body language is one of the important aspect of a human kind. people will look for the first impression when look on someone's body. It will affect more on people around us. Sometimes people will give their perception to someone just looking on their body. that is why body are influencing in communication. Even people are also tending to influence on someone body gesture. Body language also helps in communicating to someone.

"The mind is the greatest treasure". It is true. We are using our mind to think and even people are advice to think more and use their brain frequently so that it will sharpen their mind. People's mind is powerful that people can think creatively and create unique think that other people have ever imagine.

"The spirit is the greatest companion" when people are down. They need their strength to regain their spirit back. It helps in cure depressions problem. People really need someone to give support when they upset. That will help.

"money can buy happiness"

As for the rich family that can't have their own babies, buying babies from others in the black market is the best way that they can do to have their own children. They are using their money to buy babies because most of the people believe that babies can bring happiness in their life. As for me, happiness is subjective. It depends on the person itself how to define happiness. I agree with that statement. First, it can in the same time save the baby's life. If the baby is not sold, can you imagine what will happen to them? will they get enough food to eat? They will go through hardship life. Their parents will say that the babies as a burden for them. If they sold the baby, maybe the buyer will happy and improve the baby's life by giving everything that the babies need including love. This will change a lot to the buyer's life. They will have someone to spend time with. They also have someone to give their wealth to.

Second is this will help the poor family too. Sometimes, people are too desperate to find money and have to sacrifice their children that they give birth for 9 months to someone else for the sake of money. Besides that, the reason they are doing like that is because they want their children to be happy and avoid their children from suffering in the poor life. buy selling their babies, this will give some happiness to see their children live happily as other normal children.

streotyping

Stereotyping is more to generalizing something that is specific enough. People are having difficulty on avoiding stereotyping because our country are doing stereotyping in public. For example, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad always said that ‘Malay people are easily forgettable’. Even a public figure does stereotyping in life. Stereotyping also brings the positive sides. The stereotyping happens in positive way when people said that the Malaysian’s economy is conquered by Chinese, it is true. Because Chinese have the spirit of business and have the courage in taking a risk to have loss in their business. Most people can’t even change their mind from stereotyping because they have set up their mind to think that way. For example, if we hate a person from a specific culture, we tend to hate the whole culture because of that particular person, that is stereotyping. It is unfair because we have untrue belief of all people and does not have enough evidence to claim that they are wrong.

My Impression about CL's subject

I have heard a lot about critical literacy from my seniors before. They said that the subject is tough and quite hard for them to score. We have discussed about this topic in class with My lecturer last semester. My lecturer said that this subject is tougher than ITTL’s subject that we have learned on the previous semester and it makes me even scared to face this semester. In the first class with Miss Anis, I tried to throw away the negative mind set from my mind. And it helps. I found out that CL is quite interesting and I’m looking forward to learn more about it. But still I’m still not confident with myself when it comes to bibliography and referencing. I found out that it is a little bit confusing. It also need us to do a lot of reading and we have to do a lot of research too. Little did I know, when it comes to Critical Literacy subject, we have to open up our mind and try to think out of the box. We have to think more creative about an issue. To discuss on the issue, we have to make more research to make counter agreement and premises. I hope that I will score this subject excellently and I will try my best to understand the 10 rules that have been taught to me since the first class. I will put a lot of effort in this subject and try to score this subject with flying colours.
